(Bio)methane cracking: solutions for carbon-negative hydrogen and solid carbon production

Green hydrogen production is considered as an essential pillar towards decarbonization of energy-intensive industrial processes to reach the carbon-neutrality targets set for 2050. A potential breakthrough technology is the development of processes allowing the use of available fossil and renewable methane to economically generate hydrogen without any release of CO2 or other GHGs. This requires the development of innovative methodologies to deliver high performance hydrogen production from methane by directly splitting the molecule in its components (hydrogen and solid carbon).
Three European-funded innovation projects, STORMING, TITAN, and COLDSPARK, will present on 27 September 2023, 10:00 – 12:00 CET, some of their solutions for methane cracking to usable hydrogen and carbon materials during an online workshop, followed by a panel discussion on synergies, replication potential, and technology uptake in the sector.
