EBA is back from REGATEC and another successful BIOSURF Workshop

EBA representatives attended REGATEC on 10-11 May, followed by a BIOSURF Project Workshop on the 12 in Malmö, Sweden.

The yearly event met a record participation, with 165 registered delegates from 24 countries who gathered in Malmö, Sweden, to learn the latest developments on the sector of biogas, anaerobic digestion and gasification.

The two-day conference included 25 oral presentations, 41 posters and 28 exhibitors, in an event opened by the governor of the region of Scania (Skåne), Margareta Pålsson. Her speech was followed by the intervention of the EBA president, Dr. Jan Stambasky, where he explained the potential and targets for renewable methane in Europe. The EBA was also represented in an exhibition that attracted companies and institutions from other eight European countries.

A BIOSURF Workshop followed REGATEC for the Promotion of the project in Sweden on the 12th May. A line-up of speakers that included project partners that included EBA, DBFZ and CIB, introduced to more than 20 delegates the present status and future prospects of the biomethane industry in Sweden. Other topics included the stability criteria and indicators for the biomethane value chain, technical challenges and its reflection in the CEN standards. Participants coming from a range of Europan countries, as well as representatives from the Chinese biogas association, also learnt about the BIOSURF project and its role in the evolution of the European biomethane market. The Workshop stirred an interesting debate on topics such as national subsidies in different European countries.
