ILUC vote at the Environment Committee of the European Parliament

The Environment Committee of the European Parliament voted on the 24th of February 2015 on the Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC) dossier, which sets the requirements for biofuels in the transport sector.

This was the 2nd reading at the Parliament, as there was no compromise in the previous round of negotiations . The Committee vote made specific changes to the legislative proposal, which will then be validated in plenary. In early March the European Parliament will start negotiations with the Council (member states) to reach a final agreement on ILUC. The official final vote of the Parliament’s plenary is scheduled for the last week of April and a potential compromise with the Council could follow after that.
