Italy: Snam announces investments in biomethane supply stations for vehicles
In the next five years, Italian natural gas infrastructure company Snam will invest €150 milion in order to create 300 biomethane supply stations in Italy.
On the occasion of an event organised by EBA member CIB and other italian associations on 8 June, Mr Marco Alverà, CEO of Snam, pointed out that biomethane is no longer a temporary but a permanent solution for sustainable mobility.
He added that the biomethane technology was already available and is a solution to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
A European study says that if we replace half of the production of electric energy coming from carbon with gas production, we would save around 250 million tons of CO2, he continued.
Biomethane plants are already available, but investments are needed, he concluded.
