Towards low carbon transports – Renewable gas as a cross-sectoral solution
Transport represents almost a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions and the new European Commission has tasked itself with increasing the uptake of sustainable and alternative transport fuels for road, maritime and air transport.
Renewable gas and LNG are among the leading already existing alternatives on the market today. Being truly renewable, renewable gas is part of the circular economy, has very low emissions, and can be used both in passenger and heavy-duty vehicles.
During this lunch discussion, we will hear EU policy-makers’, transport industry’s and energy industry’s views on greening the European transport system. The keynote address will be delivered by Henrik Hololei, Director-General, DG MOVE, European Commission.
The event will be hosted by MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri (S&D, Finland) and Gasum – an energy company that is a Nordic gas sector and energy market expert building a bridge to a carbon neutral society.
