UK: Green Gas Grids – UK Roadmap
The purpose of the UK Roadmap is to describe the necessary steps that need to be taken or continued to allow further development of the UK biomethane sector.
In the UK there are approximately 138 operational anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, estimates from the NNFCC suggest there are a further 340 plants under development, with a cumulative installed capacity of approximately 250 MWel.
The UK biomethane to grid market is making good progress as a result of the Renewable Heat Initiative (the world’s first long term financial support programme for renewable heat) with potential of 1.8 TWh of biomethane in 2015, by 2030 the potential of Biomethane in the UK is of 20 TWh.
