Webinar: Industrial Biogas Systems and Unlocking Circular Economy Solutions
17.09.2026Webinar highlights practical pathways for industrial decarbonisation through biogas
The transition towards a climate-neutral and resource-efficient economy requires more than replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy. Integrated solutions are needed to strengthen energy security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve resource efficiency and support industrial competitiveness. Biogas can make an important contribution to all of these objectives.
The upcoming webinar, “Industrial Biogas Systems and Unlocking Circular Economy Solutions,” will explore how biogas and biomethane can support industrial decarbonisation and circular production. It is based on two recent reports prepared within the IEA Bioenergy Task 37 framework.
Particular attention will be given to industrial sectors with organic residual streams, including the food and beverage industry. By converting organic by-products into renewable gas, companies can lower energy-related emissions, improve their energy independence and create additional value from underutilised biomass. Depending on local conditions, biogas can be used for renewable heat and electricity generation or upgraded to biomethane for transport applications and gas-grid injection.
The webinar will present practical experiences from several countries and discuss different implementation pathways, including on-site biogas production, industrial partnerships and the use of grid-injected biomethane. It will also address feedstock characteristics, project development considerations and international examples from industries such as brewing, distilling, meat processing and potato processing.
Participants will gain insights into emerging business opportunities, industrial biorefineries and approaches for combining climate protection with circular resource use. The webinar is aimed at plant operators, technology providers, policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders interested in industrial biogas systems.
