EBA joins #KeepTheTarget campaign for an ambitious EU renewable energy target for 2040

The European Biogas Association (EBA) has joined the #KeepTheTarget campaign, supporting the call for EU leaders to retain a binding and ambitious EU-wide renewable energy target for 2040.

Renewables are one of Europe’s success stories. A key driver of this progress has been the Renewable Energy Directive and its binding renewable energy target, which have provided clear direction, attracted investment, stimulated innovation and given Member States a shared objective.

As discussions on Europe’s post-2030 energy framework are underway, the campaign warns that the EU-wide renewable energy target for 2040 risks being weakened or removed #KeepTheTarget calls on EU leaders to maintain a binding and ambitious target and build on Europe’s progress in renewable energy.

A clear renewable energy target provides visibility for investors and supply chains and supports industrial competitiveness. The campaign also highlights the contribution of homegrown renewable energy to Europe’s resilience, independence and energy sovereignty.
