European Sustainable Energy Week 2026

As part of EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026, EBA is participating in a session “Sustainable and domestic biogas and biomethane in the EU: from production potential to scaling market uptake”. This session will explore how sustainable and domestic biogas and biomethane can contribute to Europe’s clean energy transition and energy security goals. Bringing together key stakeholders from across the value chain, the discussion will address both the opportunities and the remaining barriers to scaling biomethane production and market uptake in the EU.

The event will feature insights from European Commission representatives, industry leaders, a biomethane producer, a distribution network operator, and an industrial user. Representing Shell Biogas A/S and the European Biogas Association, Mette Smedegaard Hansen, Head of Corporate Relations in Denmark, will contribute expertise on biomethane production, market development, and the role of industry in scaling renewable gas across Europe. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage directly with speakers during an interactive Q&A session.
