EBA Position paper RED Annex VI revision

This paper presents European Biogas Association’s (EBA) feedback on the European Commission’s draft revision of RED Annex VI, the framework governing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculation for biogas and biomethane. As emission‑saving thresholds become more stringent under RED III, ensuring accurate, harmonised and practical methodologies is essential for operators across Europe. EBA welcomes the Commission’s efforts to update Annex VI and offers targeted recommendations to improve clarity, expand the applicability of default values, reduce administrative burden, and ensure that the full GHG‑reduction potential of the sector is recognised. The objective is to support a robust, transparent and future‑proof framework that enables biogas and biomethane to effectively contribute to the EU’s decarbonisation goals.
