InVesta launched at EBA’s Biogas Conference
Apart from significant and key presentations and discussions on the state of art and future of biogas in Europe, the Conference of the European Biogas Association will stay recorded as the key event for a newly launched Institute for Valorisation and Expertise in Thermochemics Alkmaar.
The Conference of the European Biogas Association, held last week in Alkmaar region, the Netherlands, was a key event for Noord Holland province’s future scientific and economic development. InVesta, the Institute for Valorisation and Expertise in Thermochemics Alkmaar, will serve as a national centre of expertise in the field of biomass gasification. This project will gather companies, research institutes and other stakeholders and offer them opportunities to experiment with various biomass gasification technology.
For this occasion, the Conference has gathered a number of eminent speakers and presenters, namely Jaap Bond, deputy of renewable energy & climate, province of North Holland, Jan Nagengast, alderman of the municipality of Alkmaar, Jan Willem van Hoogstraten, managing director TAQA Energy, Paul Korting, CEO ECN, Britta van Boven, GroenGas Noord-Holland, Robin Post van der Burg, director en co-founder Torrgas, Fred Gardner, Inholland. They have all pointed out the fact that commercialising a product requires a central spot for both development of knowledge and technology on one side and practical utilisation and market application on the other. This is why InVesta will bring together the developers, science and businesses together to one location.
InVesta is located in the Energy Innovation Park in Alkmaar. First tenants will move in already by the end of this yearm including Torrgas, who will build a pilot plant there. Paul Korting, board member Energy Board Noord Holland and director ECN wrapped up the launch by saying: “The Netherlands is aiming for more renewable energy from clean sources such as biomass, wind and sun. By launching Investa North Holland makes an important contribution to the creation of more knowledge and technology in the field of renewable energy. With InVesta we also bring the application of green gas closer”.
