Netherlands: Latest REnescience facility progresses

DONG Energy has revealed more details of its under-development REnescience facility in Eindhoven.

The information, which was shared in a contract award notice, says the plant will be designed with a capacity of 120,000 tonnes of household waste per year, or 15 tonnes per hour.

This is the same feedstock size as the UK-based plant, which is due to open soon, indicating it will also have the same capacity of 6MWe through biogas production.

The facility in the UK will be the first in the world to handle household waste by means of enzymes when it is fully operational.

However, the Dutch facility will also take sewage sludge and will include a wastewater treatment plant, unlike in the UK.
