Spain: European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete visits CNH Industrial plant in Madrid

CNH Industrial welcomed European Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete and presented its Iveco brand commercial vehicles.

The plant in Madrid which is producing heavy-duty vehicles is realising system that is increasingly sustainable and conscious of the environment. Mr Pierre Lahutte, a member of the Company’s Group Executive Council and Brand President of Iveco welcomed the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete.

During his visit, Mr Arias Cañete had the opportunity to monitor the production processes which are based on the maximum criteria of efficiency and sustainability. CNH presented also the latest Iveco brand products built in Madrid, including the New Stralis NP (natural power), the vehicle with the natural gas engine capable to significantly reduce emissions while maintaining low operating costs. The new Stralis NP in LNG version is able to guarantee autonomy of 1,500 kilometres, which is the maximum available on the market today for heavy-duty, alternative fuel commercial vehicles.

Mr Miguel Arias Cañete said: “On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Pegaso brand, which has become part of the history of Iveco and CNH Industrial, I have visited a plant where tradition meets innovation, due to the most advanced technologies. Here the Stralis is produced, a leader in sustainability also thanks to its liquefied natural gas (LNG) version, the ideal bridge towards the utilization of renewable sources in the transport segment.”
