Vice-President Šefčovič has launched the Energy Union Tour – What’s in it for your country?

Vice-President Šefčovič, at the request of Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, is visiting EU countries to engage in an intensive dialogue with local governments as well as relevant stakeholders, including social partners, representatives of the business community and NGOs.

The aim of the Energy Union Tour is to present the opportunities that the Energy Union will bring to European citizens and businesses. At the same time, it will be a good occasion to discuss the challenges that have to be addressed to implement the Energy Union Strategy, to get more information about the specific situation of each Member State and to give visibility to existing good practices all around Europe.

“Do you agree with our analysis? Are all the statistics correct? What is your level of ambition if it comes to Energy Union in your perspective?”, These are some of the questions that will asked to member state authorities. Šefčovič stated that based on these answers, the Commission will prepare recommendations on how national energy and climate plans should look like.

The first visit took place on 20 May in The Netherlands. Vice-President Šefčovič has already visited the Check Republic (26 May), the Netherlands/Germany (29 May) and Latvia (1 June). The list of country visits as well as more information on the Tour can be found here.
